{"id":74,"date":"2009-08-26T10:00:56","date_gmt":"2009-08-26T17:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.astoriababy.com\/?p=74"},"modified":"2010-02-10T10:46:05","modified_gmt":"2010-02-10T17:46:05","slug":"a-celebration-of-sorts","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.astoriababy.com\/?p=74","title":{"rendered":"A Celebration of Sorts"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>What better way to celebrate the end of a 10 day stint with food poisoning than to celebrate at Astoria&#8217;s own <a title=\"Mojave\" href=\"http:\/\/www.mojaveny.com\/home.asp\" target=\"_blank\">Mojave<\/a> Restaurant?<\/p>\n<p>Pops sweetly took me on a date to celebrate my newly restored ability to eat real food and we decided to try Mojave &#8211; we&#8217;d never been there before and since Ditmars is a bit farther than we go normally, it seemed like a real night out.<\/p>\n<p>First, let me say the decor was amazing &#8211; I really loved how homey yet chic everything was, right down to the detail on the celling. \u00c2\u00a0We did, however, pass over the dining room and head directly outside to the lovely garden &#8211; really, a prefect oasis that could convince me we might be in Mexico or similar&#8230;.certainly *not* just steps from the N\/W line.<br \/>\n<!--more--><br \/>\nSince I&#8217;m still recovering, I opted to try the\u00c2\u00a0Blue Corn Enchiladas Chipotle Chicken Breast \u00c2\u00a0&#8211; which was fantastic. \u00c2\u00a0Granted, my lovely new penchant for heartburn kept me from adding any hot sauce, but it was still so flavorful I was in love. \u00c2\u00a0Pops tried the\u00c2\u00a0Santa Fe Shepard\u00e2\u20ac\u2122s Pie and was overjoyed with his choice, I think. \u00c2\u00a0So! \u00c2\u00a0Two winning entrees made us decide we shouldn&#8217;t stop there &#8211; so we dove into dessert.<\/p>\n<p>I had a delicious cheesecake pastry (I can&#8217;t remember the name) that came out warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream and banana pomegranate sauce. \u00c2\u00a0Wow. \u00c2\u00a0Pops enjoyed the Molten Center Chocolate Cake, but felt it compared too closely with those little microwaveable chocolate cakes you can buy at the supermarket. \u00c2\u00a0I guess everything can&#8217;t be a complete win.<\/p>\n<p>All in all, I would like to return to Mojave again &#8211; the garden and dining room were perfect and the food was generally excellent. \u00c2\u00a0It was a great date with Pops and a great place to celebrate food!<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>What better way to celebrate the end of a 10 day stint with food poisoning than to celebrate at Astoria&#8217;s own Mojave Restaurant?
